The Pfandler Alm

The Pfandler Alm in Prantach lies above St. Martin at an altitude of 1350 m and became known as the hiding place of Andreas Hofer.

He hid here for some one and a half months with a scribe as well as his own wife and son. At four o’clock in the morning of 28 January 1810, they were captured and taken to Bozen and Mantua.

The original building (Almhütte) burned down in 1919 and a faithful copy of the original was built in 1984 by the Passeier Valley Schützen (company of marksmen).
