2018-19: The Passeier school of painting
Starting in 1719, the “Passeier school of painting” continued for over a century in St. Martin in Passeier: now, in view of the forthcoming tercentenary of its foundation, it is to be reappraised and presented to a wider public.
The project, begun by the Municipality of St. Martin, for the “Digitalisation of artworks and creation of a database in the framework of a website”, was transferred to the MuseumPasseier in the winter of 2017-18. The first part, which particularly concerns St. Martin and the surrounding area, will be completed in 2020. The objects from the municipalities of Moos and St. Leonhard are then to be photographed, catalogued according to art-historical criteria and entered into the database.
An audiobook on the Passeier school of painting is planned: taking the MuseumPasseier as its starting point, the aim is to offer, in modern form, attractive guided tours of the highlights of the school that existed in the valley. It is also planned to adapt a room in the Museum’s grain store in order to present this unique aspect of the Passeier Valley in the open-air section.
